## Key figures 2026

Shipping cost is a checkout problem as much as a logistics one, so carrier data sits here next to conversion data.

## Which is the best ecommerce shipping software in 2026?

ShipStation is the best ecommerce shipping software for most stores, because it connects to the major marketplaces and carts, shows its price per month and offers a 30-day trial. The right pick still depends on where you ship and how many parcels you send each month.

| Tool | Best for | Software price | Free option |
|---|---|---|---|
| ShipStation | Multichannel stores | From $14.99 a month (monthly billing, 50-shipment tier) | 30-day free trial |
| Sendcloud | European stores | €28 a month plus €0.10 per label (yearly billing) | Free up to 20 parcels a month |
| Shippo | US stores on USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL | From $17 a month on annual billing | Free up to 30 labels a month |
| Easyship | Cross-border sellers | $29 a month on Plus (monthly billing) | Free up to 50 shipments a month |
| Veeqo | Amazon and multichannel sellers | Inventory plan from $19 a month | Shipping plan free |
| Packlink PRO | Carrier comparison with no fee | No software fee | Free to use |
| Boxtal | French Shopify stores | Pay per shipment, no subscription stated | Free to install |
| Pirate Ship | US sellers on USPS and UPS | No monthly fees | Free |

Prices are the ones each vendor displayed on November 2, 2026. Some pages adapt to the visitor's country, so check yours before you decide.

### 1. ShipStation

ShipStation comes first because its price is easy to read, it names the widest list of marketplaces and carts on its pricing page, and its free trial runs for 30 days. Check the tier that matches your monthly shipments before you compare it with a flat plan.

- Best for: Stores that sell on several channels and want one place to print labels, with a clear monthly price
- Price: Starter $14.99, Standard $29.99, Premium $349.99 per month on monthly billing for the 50-shipment tier (annual billing $143.90, $287.90 and $3,359.90 a year), US page, postage extra (checked on 2026-11-02)
- Strengths: 30-day free trial, no credit card required; Store connections include Shopify, Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop, WooCommerce, Etsy and eBay; No fee to connect your own carrier accounts on plans registered after July 8, 2025; 3 users on Starter, 10 on Standard and 15 on Premium
- Limits: The price depends on the shipment tier you pick, and the page opens on 50 shipments; Postage, insurance, extra users and add-ons are billed on top of the subscription; Plans registered before July 8, 2025 may pay extra to connect carriers
- URL: https://www.shipstation.com/

### 2. Sendcloud

Sendcloud is the strongest pick for a store that ships mostly in Europe. Its per-label fee falls as you move up a plan, and its checkout service point picker suits the relay-point habits of European buyers.

- Best for: European stores that want Sendcloud's carrier rates or their own carrier contracts in one dashboard
- Price: Free up to 20 parcels a month, Lite €28 a month plus €0.10 per label, Growth €87 plus €0.09, Premium €175 plus €0.08, Pro €639 plus €0.07, shown with yearly billing (-20%) (checked on 2026-11-02)
- Strengths: 14-day free trial with no credit card; 170+ couriers on Lite and higher plans, 70+ on the free plan; Use Sendcloud's rates or your own carrier contract; Service point picker in checkout, tracking by email, SMS and WhatsApp
- Limits: Lite caps you at 4,800 labels a year, 3 users and 3 store integrations; Each plan adds a per-label fee, so the cost grows with volume; The page shows euro prices with yearly billing selected, so a monthly contract costs more
- URL: https://www.sendcloud.com/

### 3. Shippo

Shippo suits a US store that wants to start free and print its first hundred labels a month. Its entry Pro tier covers 200 labels, fewer than the 500 shipments in Easyship's Plus plan.

- Best for: US stores that ship with USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL Express and want a free start
- Price: Starter free up to 30 labels a month, Pro from $17 a month on annual billing ($205 a year, entry tier of 1 to 200 labels a month), Premier on quote (checked on 2026-11-02)
- Strengths: Starter plan with discounted USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL Express labels at no subscription cost; Unlimited store connections on every plan; Connecting your own carrier account is free on Pro, 5¢ per label on Starter; Branded tracking pages and packing slips on Pro
- Limits: Starter allows 30 labels a month and one user; The Pro price shown is for the 1 to 200 labels tier, so a larger tier costs more; Discounted carrier rates cover USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL Express only; Non-US address validation costs 9¢, 8¢ or 6¢ per check depending on the plan
- URL: https://goshippo.com/

### 4. Easyship

Easyship earns its place for cross-border sellers, since duties, taxes and customs documents are built in. A domestic-only store gets less from it than from ShipStation or Shippo.

- Best for: Stores that ship abroad and need duties and taxes calculated at checkout
- Price: Free up to 50 shipments a month, Plus $29, Premier $69, Scale $99 per month on monthly billing (annual billing saves 20%), US page (checked on 2026-11-02)
- Strengths: 550+ courier services in one account; Import tax and duty calculation on the free plan, and duties shown at checkout from Premier; Up to 500 shipments on Plus, 2,500 on Premier and 5,000 on Scale; Rates at checkout and a 14-day free trial of the paid plans
- Limits: The free plan cannot link your own courier account; Linking your own courier costs $0.05, $0.04 or $0.03 per label on Plus, Premier and Scale; Only 1 user on the free plan and 3 on Plus
- URL: https://www.easyship.com/

### 5. Veeqo

Veeqo is the best value if you already sell on Amazon and want shipping and stock in one free tool. Stores outside the US should check which carriers their country page offers.

- Best for: Multichannel sellers who also need stock tracking across Amazon, Shopify, eBay and Walmart
- Price: Shipping plan free, Inventory plan from $19 a month, High Volume from $350 a month (US page) (checked on 2026-11-02)
- Strengths: Free shipping plan with unlimited orders, users, products and warehouses; Bulk ship up to 100 orders in one click; Rates with Amazon Shipping, UPS, USPS, FedEx, DHL and OnTrac, and up to 5% back in Veeqo Credits; Inventory plan adds stock sync across channels and demand forecasting
- Limits: Inventory and High Volume prices depend on the monthly order volume you select; The pre-negotiated carrier list on the US page is built around American carriers
- URL: https://www.veeqo.com/

### 6. Packlink PRO

Packlink PRO is a low-risk way to compare carriers when you want no subscription. You see the real rate only once your account is open.

- Best for: European and UK sellers who want to compare carriers with no software fee
- Price: Free, you pay only for the shipments you make (no per-label price published on the page) (checked on 2026-11-02)
- Strengths: No registration cost, as stated on the page; Carriers include Royal Mail, UPS, DHL, Evri, GLS, TNT, DPD and InPost; Connections with Amazon, eBay, Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Magento, Shopware and Wix; Packlink says more than 40,000 online vendors use it
- Limits: No per-label or per-parcel rate is published on the page, so you compare in the account; The page gives no figure for team seats or automation rules
- URL: https://www.packlink.com/en-GB/

### 7. Boxtal

Boxtal fits a French store that sells on Shopify and ships through relay points. Ask for its rate grid for your own parcel weights before you commit.

- Best for: French stores that want Colissimo, Mondial Relay and Chronopost rates without a subscription
- Price: Free to install on Shopify, you pay for each shipment, with no subscription or volume condition stated (no public rate table found) (checked on 2026-11-02)
- Strengths: Chronopost, Colis Privé, Colissimo, DHL, Mondial Relay and UPS among 15+ carriers; Shopify app rated 4.4 from 44 reviews on the Shopify App Store; Label creation, bulk printing, return labels and a pickup-point map at order confirmation
- Limits: Fees on Shopify are billed in USD and external fees may be billed separately from your Shopify invoice; We could not open a public rate table, so shipping prices are not compared here
- URL: https://www.boxtal.com/

### 8. Pirate Ship

Pirate Ship works well as a free tool for a small US shop that ships with two carriers. It ranks last because it offers fewer carriers and fewer tools than the other seven.

- Best for: US sellers who ship only with USPS and UPS and want no software fee
- Price: No monthly fees, you pay the carrier rate (checked on 2026-11-02)
- Strengths: No monthly fees, hidden costs or minimum volumes; Compares USPS and UPS rates in one screen; Bulk label printing and saved package presets
- Limits: Only USPS and UPS are offered, and UPS discounts apply to shipments starting in the United States; Pirate Ship says it is paid by the carriers, not by you, and lists no paid plan
- URL: https://www.pirateship.com/
## How we compared ecommerce shipping software

We compared the eight tools from their public pricing pages, help centers and the Shopify App Store, not from stores we ran for this article. These are the criteria behind the order.

- Price of the software, from the free plan to the plan a growing store needs, and the fee added to each label.
- Carriers and rates available, including whether you can connect your own carrier contract.
- Store and marketplace connections.
- Tools around the label, such as rates at checkout, tracking pages, returns and customs documents.
- Countries a store can ship from, and the free trial or free plan.

The ranking reflects how well each tool fits a small to mid-sized store shipping from the US, the UK or France. Boxtal and Pirate Ship sit lower because we found fewer published details on rates or carriers, not because they do the job badly.

## What does ecommerce shipping software do?

Ecommerce shipping software pulls orders from your store, lets you compare carrier rates, prints the label and sends tracking details to your customer. It replaces the manual routine of copying addresses into a carrier website, one parcel at a time.

The common features are easy to separate:

1. Order import from the store or marketplace, such as Shopify, Amazon or WooCommerce.
2. Rate comparison across several carriers, with discounted rates or your own contract.
3. Label printing, one by one or in bulk, with address validation on some plans.
4. Tracking emails or pages with your branding, and return labels.
5. Customs documents and duty calculation for parcels that cross a border.

Multi carrier shipping software matters most when you use more than one service, for example a cheap ground service for heavy parcels and an express service for urgent orders. A single carrier website cannot show you that comparison.

## How much does ecommerce shipping software cost?

Entry plans cost between nothing and $29 a month, and the real cost comes from the per-label fee and the postage. [ShipStation](https://www.shipstation.com/pricing/) starts at $14.99 a month on monthly billing, Easyship's Plus plan costs $29 a month, and Sendcloud adds €0.10 to €0.07 to each label on its paid plans.

A worked example shows the gap. A store that ships 150 parcels a month on Sendcloud Lite pays €28 for the plan plus 150 times €0.10, so €43.00 a month before postage, a calculation from [Sendcloud's pricing page](https://www.sendcloud.com/pricing/). The same store fits the 1 to 200 labels tier of [Shippo's Pro plan](https://goshippo.com/pricing), at $17 a month on annual billing, and under the 500-shipment limit of [Easyship Plus](https://www.easyship.com/plans), at $29 a month on monthly billing. [Veeqo's shipping plan](https://www.veeqo.com/pricing), [Packlink PRO](https://www.packlink.com/en-GB/) and [Pirate Ship](https://www.pirateship.com/rates) charge no software fee at all.

![Sendcloud pricing page with Lite at €28 a month, Growth at €87, Premium at €175 and Pro at €639](https://storeplatforms.com/images/shipping-software/sendcloud-pricing-page.webp "Sendcloud's four paid plans with the yearly billing toggle selected, each with a per-label fee. Source: Sendcloud, page viewed on 2026-11-02")

Watch the limits behind the price. Sendcloud Lite stops at 4,800 labels a year, and Easyship's free plan stops at 50 shipments a month and cannot link your own courier account. [Easyship's plan table](https://www.easyship.com/plans) also adds $0.05, $0.04 or $0.03 per label when you connect your own courier on Plus, Premier or Scale.

## Why do shipping costs matter for conversion?

Shipping cost is one of the main reasons shoppers leave a purchase. In [Baymard Institute's survey of US online shoppers](https://baymard.com/lists/cart-abandonment-rate), 40% of those who abandoned for a reason other than browsing gave extra costs such as shipping, tax and fees, and 20% said delivery was too slow.

Baymard puts the average cart abandonment rate at 70.22%, an average of 50 studies, on a page updated on September 22, 2025. The shipping figures come from Baymard's own latest survey, so they describe US shoppers and not every market.

A shipping tool helps on both counts. It shows live rates and delivery dates, so you can state the cost before payment, and it lets you switch to a cheaper or faster service when a carrier raises its prices. For the other half of the checkout problem, read how a [payment gateway](/en/best-payment-gateways-for-ecommerce) affects fees and trust, or our guide to the [ecommerce conversion rate](/en/ecommerce-conversion-rate).

## How are carrier prices changing in 2026?

Carrier prices rose again in 2026, and temporary holiday surcharges are on top. USPS recommended a 7.8% increase for Ground Advantage, to take effect on January 18, 2026, in a [release dated November 14, 2025](https://about.usps.com/newsroom/national-releases/2025/1114-usps-recommends-new-competitive-prices-for-2026.htm).

For the 2026 holiday season, USPS announced on August 25, 2026 a [temporary price change](https://about.usps.com/newsroom/national-releases/2026/0825-usps-announces-temporary-price-change-for-2026-holiday-shipping-season.htm) from October 4, 2026 to January 17, 2027, pending Postal Regulatory Commission review. On Ground Advantage it adds $0.50 for a retail parcel of 0 to 3 lb in zones 1 to 4, and $0.40 for the same commercial parcel.

UPS shows the same direction. Its US domestic revenue per piece rose 6.1% in Q3 2026, with domestic revenue of $14,865 million against $14,220 million a year earlier, according to [UPS's earnings release of October 27, 2026](https://about.ups.com/us/en/newsroom/press-releases/financials/ups-releases-3q-2026-earnings.html). Revenue per piece is not a price list, so treat it as a direction, not as a rate increase on your parcels. Before the peak season, rerun your own parcel mix through two or three carriers.

## Which shipping software suits a store selling in France?

For a French store, the carriers matter as much as the tool. Sendcloud, Packlink PRO and Boxtal all list European carriers, and Boxtal names Colissimo, Mondial Relay and Chronopost on its [Shopify App Store page](https://apps.shopify.com/boxtal), where it shows a rating of 4.4 from 44 reviews on November 2, 2026.

The French market is large and still growing. [Arcep counts 1.7 billion parcels](https://www.arcep.fr/cartes-et-donnees/nos-publications-chiffrees/observatoire-courrier-colis/marches-courrier-colis-activites-connexes-france-2024.html) delivered in France or exported in 2024, up 3.7% in a year, and revenue of €10.0 billion excluding VAT. In an [Arcep study by CREDOC published on February 10, 2026](https://www.arcep.fr/actualites/actualites-et-communiques/detail/n/colis-100226.html), 47% of mainland French residents received at least one parcel between October 2024 and March 2025, and 62% of recipients reported at least one problem in the previous six months.

La Poste raised the average price of its universal postal service by 7.4% on January 1, 2026, and Colissimo parcels sent by individuals rose 3.4% on average, according to its [press release of July 28, 2025](https://www.lapostegroupe.com/assets/media/le-groupe-laposte/aIeE8FGsbswqTWUN_CPLaPoste-Tarifscourriercolis2026_.pdf). A [release dated July 27, 2026](https://www.caissedesdepots.fr/sites/ms-cdc-fr/files/2026-07/CP_La_Poste_tarifs_au_010127.pdf) announces a further average rise of 6.73% on January 1, 2027, and 4.1% for Colissimo parcels sent by individuals.

## How to choose shipping software for your store

The right tool costs least on your own parcels and connects to your store. Plan an afternoon for this.

1. Count last month's parcels and note the countries they went to.
2. List your selling channels, then keep only the tools that connect to them.
3. Price your parcel count at each tool, with the plan fee and the per-label fee, as in the 150-label example above.
4. Check whether you want the tool's discounted rates or your own carrier contract, and what linking your own contract costs.
5. Run the free plan or free trial on a week of real orders, and compare the label cost with your current carrier account.
6. Recheck the price after each carrier increase, because the cheapest service changes.

If you sell abroad, add duty calculation to your list, which is where Easyship stands out. If you are still choosing the store itself, our comparison of the [best ecommerce platforms](/en/best-ecommerce-platforms) covers the stores these tools connect to.

Start with the free plan or trial of your top two tools, and keep the one whose label cost on your real orders is lowest.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is the best shipping software for a small online store?

ShipStation works for most small stores, at $14.99 a month on monthly billing with a 30-day trial. If you ship fewer than 50 parcels a month, the free plans from Easyship (up to 50 shipments) or Shippo (up to 30 labels) cost nothing for the software.

### Is there free ecommerce shipping software?

Yes. Pirate Ship charges no monthly fees, Veeqo's shipping plan is free with unlimited orders, and Packlink PRO is free to use. Sendcloud, Easyship and Shippo have free entry plans with limits of 20 parcels, 50 shipments and 30 labels a month.

### What is the difference between shipping software and a carrier account?

A carrier account such as UPS or Colissimo gives you the delivery service and its rates. Shipping software connects to your store, compares carriers and prints labels. Most tools in this list let you use their discounted rates or connect your own carrier contract.

### Can I use shipping software with a Shopify store?

Yes. ShipStation, Easyship, Veeqo, Packlink PRO and Boxtal each name Shopify among the stores they connect to. Check the connection list of the tool you pick against your own selling channels before you subscribe.

### How much does a shipping label cost with these tools?

The software fee and the postage are separate. Sendcloud adds €0.10 to €0.07 per label on its paid plans, and Easyship charges $0.05 to $0.03 per label to link your own courier. The carrier rate itself depends on weight, zone and service.

### Why are my shipping costs going up in 2026?

Carriers raise prices every year. USPS recommended a 7.8% increase for Ground Advantage from January 18, 2026, and La Poste raised the average price of its universal postal service by 7.4% on January 1, 2026. Comparing carriers in one tool is the quickest way to spot a cheaper service.
